This desirable 1960s gold lamé jacket with heavily beaded trim and bishop sleeves exudes glamour and although unlabeled is of exceptional quality. I strongly suspect this is Malcolm Starr as it all has all the hallmarks of the designer and he has used this fabric in a dress I sold previously some years ago. The opulent lamé fabric is emblazoned with a raised fish scale design which shimmers when it catches the light. The intricate trim on the cuffs and centre front of the jacket are encrusted with large cut glass beads in citron and amber tones, and crystal toned rocaille and bugle beads and create a wonderfully decadent aesthetic. The jacket fastens over the bust in a cross-over effect, the left front panel secures at the collar with a concealed hook and eye and the right crosses over and fixes with popper fastenings to the left beneath a large brooch style button, lavishly embellished to match the trim. The voluminous bishop sleeves finish in neat cuffs which secure with popper fastenings at the wrist. There is a luxurious ivory silk lining throughout. This gorgeous piece is in excellent vintage condition and would best fit a range of sizes around US size 6-8, UK size 10-12.
